The Committee on Race and Ethnicity administers two Society of Music Theory grants, both to subsidize travel to the Society’s annual conference, viz. (1) Minority Travel Grants, and (2) International Travel Grants.
Minority Travel Grants
Theorists who belong to an ethnic minority (defined here on the basis of the majority of current SMT members) and who are citizens of, or are currently residing in, the US or Canada are invited to apply for Minority Travel Grant. Theorists at all stages of their careers, including graduate students, are encouraged to apply. It is possible to be a repeat recipient as well (though new applicants will be given priority).

International Travel Grants
Non-U.S. and non-Canadian citizens who reside outside the United States and Canada are invited to apply for International Travel Grants. Theorists at all stages of their careers, including graduate students, are encouraged to apply. It is possible to be a repeat recipient as well (though new applicants will be given priority).
